This week I went to Sun Valley to visit my dad for one last snow fix. They got SO much this year. 170% of normal... I wanted to get in one last ski day, but the mountain has been closed off and on because of avalanches, etc., so I didn't think it was worth it to schlep all my gear on the plane with me.
Instead, we decided to go on a snowshoe adventure! Just about 30 minutes outside of town is Galena Lodge where you can rent snowshoes or cross-country skis (or bring your own) and venture around any of the many trails they've carved out. Depending on how ambitious you're feeling, they have any path length to choose from, from a half mile to around 5 miles. We chose a happy medium of about 2, made our loop, and came back and had lunch in the lodge. (I added chicken to the veggie quesadilla and it was maybe the best I've ever had).
